Guyer vs Longview final score.

DALLAS (KNTU) For the second straight year, the Denton Guyer Wildcats' state title hopes were ended thanks to the Longview Lobos.

In a 49 to 28 win, the Lobos had 485 rushing yards, with three players runnning for more than 100 yards each. Quarterback Aaron Johnson ran for 153 yards, Da’Cedric Hunt ran for 152 yards, and Tyler McCray ran five times for 125 yards. Guyer had only allowed two 100-yard rushers all season.

Guyer quarterback J.W. Walsh ran for just 36 yards, and the team ran for only 144 yards total. The team had averaged more than 300 yards per game on the ground entering this semifinal matchup.

The Lobos got on the board early and often, including a long touchdown run that was called back because of a block in the back. Hunt scored from two yards out later in the drive.

Guyer quickly tied the game on a nine-yard run by Cameron Hunter after the Wildcats moved the ball downfield with ease.

But the Lobos then scored back-to-back touchdowns thanks to a 52-yard scamper by QB Johnson to make it 14-7 with the extra point, and a 38-yard run by Tyler McCray to make it 21-7 with the point after.

Sebastian Williams added a nine-yard TD run to cut the Longview lead to 21-14 before the half, but Johnson and Hunt connected on a 29-yard pass to make the score 28-14 at halftime.

Guyer took the kickoff to begin the second half, and scored on that drive to make it 28-21 after a one-yard run by Jaimaine Wilhite. On the ensuing Lobos drive, the Wildcats forced a fumble, but Guyer couldn’t do anything with the following possession and Walsh punted on fourth down to pin the Lobos on the nine-yard line.

But Hunt would make yet another big play, going 91-yards for his second TD run of the night. Johnson scored from two yards out just a short time later to make it 41-21.

Wilhite and Walsh connected on an 18-yard pass for a score in the fourth quarter to cut the Longview lead to 41-28, but Johnson's score on an 11-yard run the next drive  punched the Lobos’ ticket to the 4A Division 1 State Championship Final next week against Lake Travis.
